In this climate when online attacks are prevalent and business data is at risk, it is important to be on alert in protecting yourself from illegal online activity and hacking of your important company and personal information.
Here at Real World, we are helping protect our Managed Services customers with industry leading email “Spam and Phishing” filters, Firewalls and VPN services that we make available on subscription to our valuable customers. We also provide services such as software patch management to ensure that your data remains up to date and free of security vulnerabilities. We already partner with the ACSC and work with them on important security and infrastructure issues.
Although we have protection already in place for our customers, these systems are not (and don’t claim to be) 100% foolproof and therefore it is important to educate yourself on the dangers and follow some simple steps to keep yourself safe and free of cyber attacks.
If you receive and email that you do not recognize nor are you expecting, delete it
- The Government (and government affiliated big business) will never ask for your credit card details over email and it is our recommendation to you that you never put credit card details or Medicare (or and other information that makes up the usual 100 points of id that can be collected to steal your identity) details into an email
- If you are contacted by any organisation that requires credit card or personal information, hang up and call them back on their registered number so you know that you are speaking to that organisation and not an imposter
- If you notice anything out of the ordinary on your computer systems call Real World for assistance. We would rather you call (even it it turns out to there is nothing wrong) — than not call and later discover you were hacked.
Be alert, but not alarmed as following a few simple rules can keep your Internet presence safe
