Spotlight – The Little Lost Bookshop

Down the back of a hidden plaza is Katoomba’s newest gem. You might be forgiven if you didn’t see it there. It’s a little lost. But this small, locally owned book shop is anything but. Karl Grice, owner, writes:

Sometimes when I’m packing for a trip, I feel quite sure I have forgotten something, but I can’t quite remember what it is. The Little Lost Bookshop is a bit like that. It’s like a place I knew I was looking for, but couldn’t quite remember. And a place to go when you haven’t quite found what you’re looking for. A place full of old thoughts, strange ideas and beautiful books. It is The Little Lost Bookshop.

We were privileged to visit the store just before opening, and were warmed by the delightful range of good books spanning a massive range of genre’s, styles, authors and forms. Karl’s warm style and personal service flow freely through the place – from the reading couches inside the door, to the hand made wooden shop fittings and the careful arrangement of books. We walked in, and felt at home.

We’re delighted to work with Karl to help power the communications for The Little Lost Bookshop, and The Wandering Bookseller – providing nbn™ internet services, Voice over IP solutions using Cloud PBX and IT hardware. For a small business, it is essential that the solutions we provide are cost effective and easy to use.

With two unique brands servicing quite different markets, it was important for Karl to be able to distinguish between his different clients, and preserve the unique nature of each brand. We’ve provided two seperate numbers, a local Katoomba telephone number for the bricks-and-mortar retail store, and a Sydney based number for the Wandering Bookseller (which services clients Australia wide).

Incoming calls are identified using custom messages on the phone screens, and each brand has a unique voicemail message and opening hours. Karl has both a Polycom VVX 400 series desktop phone on the front counter, and a Gigaset Cordless phone to provide mobility around the shop when he needs to have a chat to a customer or search for a title.
